Croatia Trip - Monday: Catamaran to Dubrovnik

Woke up early and went for a walk along the water to take some photos, and had some coffee with a chocolate croissant before the catamaran arrived leaving for Dubrovnik. Beautiful day with the fresh sea breeze.

Catamaran arrived late as usual but quick ride to arrive in Dubrovnik, with the city rising against the mountains in a dramatic backdrop for two huge cruise ships docked at the harbor. From the harbor is a half hour hike to the Old Town. Not so fun with a backpack along busy streets on a hot day.

Staying at Villa Flores. Beautiful place! First things first: lunch at an average place. Ordered the fish plate... rare that they serve this for one person. Must have been hungry enough to just be easily enticed by the young man in front asking me questions. 

Afterwards, I walked around the city to get to know it. Found the city wall entrance along the northeast side of town and walked along the inside of the wall. Had wine at Nonenina at the main pjaca and read my guidebook. This place is mobbed with tourists, and I wish I stayed at Mljet longer. Thankfully, the crowds abated by 5pm. However, the crowds still elicit a "fight or flight" response with me, and I will be escaping to the islands during subsequent days during the daytime hours.

Went to Lady Pi Pi for dinner to sit on their vine covered terrace. While waiting in line, i met some younger Canadians and heard this place is a 10 out of 10. Their specialty is their seafood, and their tuna steak can highly recommended. It was seated with garlic and herbs, served with mangold, potatoes, Lima beans and green beans. Delicious. Rick Steve's does not lie.
